🔬 Scientific Literature

[Holy basil] essential oil contains a valuable source of bioactive compounds, such as camphor, eucalyptol, eugenol, alpha-bisabolene, beta-bisabolene, and beta-caryophyllene. These compounds are proposed to be responsible for the antimicrobial properties of the leaf extracts. [Holy basil] leaves, which have high concentrations of eugenol, have been shown to have anticancer properties. (Hasan et al., 2022).”

“As a result, exposure to [holy] basil essential oil significantly improved the behavior of the animals, suggesting anxiolytic- and antidepressant-like effects. Our results suggest that multiple exposures to basil essential oils can be useful as a mean to counteract anxiety and depression in Alzheimer’s disease conditions (Gradinariu et al., 2014).”
